About ISEC 2012

The next Conference will be the 15th ISEC. Held every two or three years since its launch in 1982, the ISEC has received worldwide recognition as a major international venue addressing the most topical issues and novelties in the field of Stirling cycle machines.
The Conference brings together academia, industry and interested parties whose shared aim is to make the Stirling Engine an industrial and commercial success.
The ISEC also provides an opportunity for small, medium-sized and large companies to present their activities and projects to the international community.

This year, for the first time, the ISEC will be held in two separate sessions.

• The first part will be an online Conference, where papers are presented and discussed on a dedicated website from 10th to 22nd September 2012.
• The second part will be a two-day Conference of plenary meetings held at Dubrovnik’s IUC from 27th to 29th September 2012.
  

Papers submitted to the 15th ISEC will be published in the e-Proceedings of the Conference by "Università di Roma - Sapienza" (ISBN: 978-88-8326-019-3).
   
The papers selected for the plenary meetings will be published in "Applied Energy - Elsevier" after a peer review to reward the best research efforts and investigations.

Abstract Submission

Prospective authors are invited to submit to the Scientific Committee single-spaced abstracts approximately 500 words long, in English, according to the template reported in the Paper Submission Section.
The abstract should state briefly the purpose of the research, the principal results and major conclusions. References should be avoided, but if essential, then cite the author(s) and year(s). Also, non-standard or uncommon abbreviations should be avoided, but if essential they must be defined at their first mention in the abstract itself.
Five keywords for subject area and the topic number according to the topics list should also be indicated.
To submit the abstracts authors must log on as speakers and complete the registration by attaching them to the registration form available at the Conference website.
After registration the authors will receive confirmation by email.
Abstracts can be sent from 15th March 2012 to 30th April 2012.



Abstract Acceptance

Acceptance of the abstracts will be decided by the Scientific Committee based on the number of abstracts received. Authors will be notified of acceptance by 15th May 2012 and asked to submit their manuscript and the final PowerPoint presentation, in English, by 31st July 2012.
The authors, whose abstracts have been accepted, are invited to submit
1. the full manuscript
2. the final PowerPoint presentation.
The deadline for both documents is 31st July 2012.



Copyright form

Together with the documents, authors will be asked to complete the “Copyright document”. Acceptance of the agreement will ensure the widest possible dissemination of information.
Subscribers may reproduce tables of contents or prepare lists of articles including abstracts for internal circulation within their institutions. Permission of Stirling International is required for resale or distribution outside the institution and for all other derivative works, including compilations and translations. If excerpts from other copyrighted works are included, the author(s) must obtain written permission from the copyright owners and credit the source(s) in the article.



Manuscript Submission

The authors whose abstracts have been accepted are invited to submit the full manuscript both in the native format of the wordprocessor used and in .pdf format, taking into account the reviewers’ indications and suggestions.
The papers should be prepared according to the “ISEC 2012 Paper Guidelines” following the “ISEC 2012 Paper Template” reported in the Paper submissions section.
Highlights should be reported and uploaded as a separate file. The “Copyright document” signed by all authors should be sent with the manuscript and highlights.

2. access the "Downloads & Uploads" section;
3. upload the documents, selecting Presentation as the folder destination.
The deadline for manuscript submission is 31st July 2012.



Manuscript Acceptance

Acceptance of the manuscript will be notified to authors by 20th August 2012.
The authors whose paper have been selected for the Plenary Meeting sessions will be notified by 10th August 2012, to enable them to arrange for their attendance to the Conference in Dubrovnik.


Submission of Presentations

Authors, whose abstracts have been accepted, are invited to submit the final presentation in Microsoft PowerPoint 2010 together with the manuscript.
Presentations for the online Conference should be prepared according to the indications reported on the Conference website.

To read the Guidelines, authors should log on to the Conference website using their username and password, and follow these steps:
1. select "15th ISEC Web Meeting";
2. access the "Downloads & Uploads" section;
3. consult the documents in the "Download" section.

To submit their presentation, authors should log on to the Conference website, using their username and password, and follow these steps:
1. select "15th ISEC Web Meeting";
2. access the "Downloads & Uploads" section;
3. upload the presentations, selecting Presentation as the folder destination.

Authors without a Microsoft PowerPoint 2010 license can make their presentations through the Virtual Machine available on the Conference website.
To do this the authors should log on to the Conference website again, using their username and password, and follow these steps:
1. select "15th ISEC Web Meeting";
2. access the "Downloads & Uploads" section;
3. read the document "Virtual Machine Installation Guide" in the "Download" section;
4. install the Virtual Machine and Microsoft Office 2010 according to the guidelines;
5. access the Virtual Machine and Microsoft PowerPoint 2010.
Presentation submission is according to the steps detailed above.
The deadline for submission of the PowerPoint 2010 presentations is 31st July 2012.



Presentation Acceptance

Acceptance of the presentation will be notified to authors with the acceptance of the manuscript by 20th August 2012.



Network and Communication

To extend the participants network and communication, authors are invited to introduce themselves by uploading a short Curriculum Vitae, Photo or Video presentation (if available).
Authors and participants who have photos, video footage or animation files they wish to share are strongly encouraged to upload them. This is done in the same way as manuscript or presentation upload (select the folder destination "Photo" or "Video" depending on the format of the content). Submitted files should be properly labeled so that they directly relate to the file's content.



Plenary Meeting

Selected manuscripts will be discussed with the authors in high-level committees during the two days of plenary meeting in Dubrovnik.
Manuscripts will be published in "Applied Energy - Elsevier" after a peer review.
